Yes - the following conditions apply:
The minimum number of hours of employment is 15 per week unless otherwise agreed by TTAC;
The maximum term of the training contract is no more than twice the nominal full time duration for the qualification;
The minimum term is no less that one and a half times the nominal full time duration for the qualification;
Industrial arrangements must allow for part-time employment.

This qualification has been replaced and was to be discontinued on 26 June 2020. ASQA extended the transition until 31 December 2020 and then ASQA again extended the transition period until 31 December 2021. Further to the above, on 26 February 2021, the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) agreed to extend the transition period of the following qualifications from the MEM05 Manufacturing and Engineering Training Package to 31 December 2022: • MEM10105 Certificate I in Engineering • MEM30805 Certificate III in Locksmithing • MEM31112 Certificate III in Engineering - Composites Trade • MEM31215 Certificate III in Engineering – Industrial Electrician • MEM30205 Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade • MEM30305 Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade • MEM40105 Certificate IV in Engineering • MEM50105 Diploma of Engineering – Advanced Trade • MEM20205 Certificate II in Engineering – Production Technology • MEM30105 Certificate III in Engineering – Production Systems • MEM30605 Certificate III in Jewellery Manufacture • MEM30705 Certificate III in Marine Craft Construction • MEM30905 Certificate III in Boating Services • MEM31010 Certificate III in Watch and Clock Service and Repair The extended transition period follows agreement from Skills Ministers to allow for workplace-based pathways to be required for the delivery of specified qualifications in Release 2.0 of the MEM Manufacturing and Engineering Training Package. This extension is granted to all registered training organisations (RTOs) delivering the qualifications listed above. The decision extends the transition period for these RTOs to continue training, assessment and issue Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) certification. The qualifications will remain on relevant RTOs scope of registration until the end of the extended transition period, unless withdrawn from scope prior. ASQA will publish this decision on its website. If you have any questions about this decision, please contact transitionrequest@asqa.gov.au An additional descriptor may be added to this qualification title to illustrate a particular skills profile. The addition of these descriptors does not change the formal title or unique code of this qualification. The approved descriptors are - Casting and Moulding; Heavy Fabrication; Maintenance; Patternmaking; Surface Finishing and Welding. The qualification is related to the declared trades of Blacksmithing, Boilermaking, Boilermaking and/or Structural Steel, Boilermaking Welding, Sheetmetal Working, Welding and Automotive Body Making. ASQA has recently approved an extended transition period for MEM30305 Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade for all RTOs delivering the patternmaking specialisation for currently enrolled apprentices only. The extended training, assessment and certification issuance period for this qualification ends on 31 January 2024. The decision to extend the transition end date for this qualification and cohort was supported by the Skills Service Organisation – IBSA. ASQA consulted with the VRQA and TAC WA for this extended transition request. MEM30305 Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade will remain on the RTOs scope of registration until the end of the extended transition period.

Conditions
This qualification has been approved for delivery as a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship in Tasmania. Tasmanian school-based apprentices and trainees and their employers must comply with the requirements of TTAC Policy 12 Training Contracts for School Aged Learners. All other TTAC policies and guidelines also apply to school aged learners. In particular, please refer to Guideline 6 Employment Requirements for Training Contracts, and any other policies and guidelines where relevant.
